Langley Park Hotel, Buckinghamshire

Project: Langley Park Hotel, Buckinghamshire

Main Contractor: Multiplex

Project Description:

Working for Multiplex on a Grade II listed building, built as a hunting lodge for the 3rd Duke of Marborough which is going to be transformed into a luxury 5* boutique spa hotel.

We were appointed as the main scaffolder on this unique project proving full access to the perimeter of the grade II listed building and outbuildings with a fully waterproof temporary roof for a complete refurb.

Due to the grade II listed building, none of the scaffold could be permanently tied into the building so the scaffold had to be freestanding with only minimal locations for the scaffold to butt the structure ensuring protection was in place.

JDC came up with a solution to provide a buttress scaffold to the perimeter of the access scaffold placing 1000l water tanks into the buttress to act as kentledge and provide the stability needed making this a stand alone scaffold. There was 70,000l of water at the perimeter base of the scaffold. This allowed the contractors to repair and re-render the building without leaving any pockets out (due to no permanent ties) so the finish to the building could be completed in one coat.
