JDC are always committed and will attend meetings as and when required with the PAYE and Client teams, often involving the JDC design team and engineers. This has been difficult throughout COVID which has been facilitated with the use of Microsoft Teams and a willingness to progress from the PAYE and JDC teams.
JDC attend weekly site meetings on the project with the PAYE team and walk the site regularly to review problems and generate solutions. This is supported with regular Director attendance at meetings and good communication from the JDC team. The JDC Site Supervisors are always helpful and receptive which is huge asset and strength of JDC.
JDC have a wealth of experience and knowledge which puts them in good stead to generate solutions to design problems. They have an in-house design team and they partner with various engineering companies that provide the expertise in overcoming design hurdles.
West Smithfield has been particularly complicated with design loading constraints that have occasionally thrown up problems at site level requiring rapid response to design solutions to avoid project delays. JDC have been committed to overcoming these throughout.
JDC have regular interface (often weekly) with the Client Team, PAYE Project Team and CAT 3 checking engineers, which the Smithfield project requires
JDC are vigilant in reviewing design options and practical solutions to overcome site constraints and health and safety concerns. They pursue industry best practise.
JDC have an excellent safety culture that is driven throughout the company. In addition to weekly scaffold site checks to ensure safety compliance, JDC’s Safety Manager always undertakes monthly site audits which highlight site wide improvements and suggestions. They are also very responsive to any issues which are dealt with promptly and efficiently.
JDC continue to manage scaffold erection and dismantle safely with a high level of control measures to protect the public. This is essential working in busy London streets.
JDC scaffolding is always neatly constructed supporting PAYE’s requirements for public image and site presentation. They also maintain their scaffolding throughout the project duration without prompting.
JDC are commercially fair and will look at cost options that benefit all parties involved with the project. Throughout the different Phases at Smithfield Market, JDC have generated cost options for the Client to provide best value and efficiency.
